If you don't have your heart set on a portable Mac, I recomend the iMac. It is fast and has a beautiful big screen. For creative proffesionals, get the 27" iMac below. The iMac no longer includes a CD/DVD drive. If you need that be sure and purchase an external one. See below.

Make sure you get one with a Fuision Drive or SSD. Models with a regular hard disk are much slower and even a casual user will notice the difference.

The a great Mac for designers. This iMac has huge, high definition screen. It is very fast and has lots of fast storage. 

Apple's 13" MacBook Pro is my new recomendation for their best all around laptop. It is much more powerful than the MacBook Air, and has a much higher quilty screen.The base model only a 128 GB hard drive, so consider uprgading if you need more storage.

This is a great external hard disk to use with Apple's Time Machine backup software. Just plug it into your Mac, no power cable required. 

This larger drive is better for users that have a lot to backup. Choose 4 or 6 terabytes. It also has a faster, desktop class hard drive.

The new iMac and MacBook Air do not have a CD/DVD drive. This makes them lighter and less expensive. If you need to listen to CD's, watch DVD's or install software from a disk, you will need an external drive. This drive may not be compatable with Mac's that shipped with an internal drive. See below for other options.

This external CD/DVD drive is less expensive and compatible with more computers.

I like Apple's Magic Mouse, but many people find them expensive, confusing to use or overly sensitive. This basic wireless mouse is great alternative, and is available in many colors and patterns.
